Born and raised in South Africa, emerging artist Michele Decker focuses on painting the animals she lives amongst with a stunning level of detail and respect. After earning her degree in graphic design, Decker returned to her first, and primary artistic passion of painting.

Every painting begins with a photograph. It can take hours, or even days of waiting before capturing the perfect moment. Photographing her subjects allows first-hand knowledge of the animals’ spirit and character, enabling her to express the mood of the moment. Utilizing a high level of negative space, she focuses the eye on the essential part of her subjects.
